What does your dog eat now?

Pick the bowl. We plan the first week around it, so day one does not end with a full bowl and a dog walking away.

It still takes seven days. Tip a whole new food in on day one and most dogs sniff it and walk off.

A dog raised on soft food will not thank you for a bowl of dry biscuits overnight. So we take a week over it.

Raw and baked food are best kept apart. So this plan swaps one whole meal at a time and leaves the other alone.

A new home is enough change for one week, so keep feeding whatever they came home with. Your plan starts with a single spoonful of Longwalk and takes the full seven days, the slowest of the four.

Oven-baked in Bristol. £42 for a four-week bag, medium dog.

Every first bag comes with a seven-day switch plan.

There are four plans, one for each answer. Yours is printed and tucked in the bag, and emailed the morning it arrives.

From dry food: mix it in the same bowl.

A quarter Longwalk on days 1 and 2, half on days 3 and 4, and the full bowl on day 7.

Now choose the bag

From tins and pouches: keep the wet food on top.

Longwalk underneath with a splash of warm water. A little less tin each day, none by day 7.

Now choose the bag

From raw: separate meals, never the same bowl.

Raw in the morning, Longwalk in the evening for six days. Both meals Longwalk on day 7.

Now choose the bag

New dog: the slowest plan we have.

One spoonful of Longwalk on day 1, a little more each day, and the full bowl on day 7.

The first week, day by day

Dry food now? This is the easy switch.

Tins and pouches now? Keep the wet food on top.

Feeding raw now? Then never in the same bowl.

New dog? Change nothing tonight.

  1. Day 1 A quarter
  2. Day 2 A quarter
  3. Day 3 Half
  4. Day 4 Half
  5. Day 5 Three quarters
  6. Day 6 Three quarters
  7. Day 7 All Longwalk
  • Days 1 and 2 A quarter Longwalk, three quarters old food, stirred together.
  • Days 3 and 4 Half and half.
  • Days 5 and 6 Three quarters Longwalk, a handful of the old food.
  • Day 7 All Longwalk.

Why a week?

A dog that gets a whole new food overnight often leaves the bowl, or has an upset stomach by the weekend. A week of mixing avoids both.

  1. Day 1 A quarter
  2. Day 2 A quarter
  3. Day 3 Half
  4. Day 4 Half
  5. Day 5 Three quarters
  6. Day 6 Three quarters
  7. Day 7 All Longwalk
  • Days 1 and 2 A quarter Longwalk, three quarters old food, stirred together.
  • Days 3 and 4 Half and half.
  • Days 5 and 6 Three quarters Longwalk, a handful of the old food.
  • Day 7 All Longwalk.

The one thing to know

Stir the two together properly. A dog will pick round the new biscuits if they sit on top.

  1. Day 1 A quarter
  2. Day 2 A quarter
  3. Day 3 Half
  4. Day 4 Half
  5. Day 5 Three quarters
  6. Day 6 Three quarters
  7. Day 7 All Longwalk
  • Days 1 and 2 A quarter Longwalk, three quarters tin.
  • Days 3 and 4 Half and half.
  • Days 5 and 6 Three quarters Longwalk, a spoonful of tin on top.
  • Day 7 All Longwalk.

The one thing to know

Tin-fed dogs are used to soft food. Add a splash of warm water to the Longwalk and put the tin on top, so the first thing they smell is the food they know.

  1. Day 1 Evening meal
  2. Day 2 Evening meal
  3. Day 3 Evening meal
  4. Day 4 Evening meal
  5. Day 5 Evening meal
  6. Day 6 Evening meal
  7. Day 7 All Longwalk
  • Days 1 to 6, morning Raw, as usual.
  • Days 1 to 6, evening Longwalk only, in a clean bowl.
  • Day 7 Both meals Longwalk.

The one thing to know

Leave a good few hours between the raw meal and the Longwalk meal, and wash the bowl in between.

  1. Day 1 One spoonful
  2. Day 2 A fifth
  3. Day 3 A third
  4. Day 4 Nearly half
  5. Day 5 Over half
  6. Day 6 Most of it
  7. Day 7 All Longwalk
  • Day 1 One spoonful of Longwalk in with what they came home with.
  • Days 2 and 3 About a quarter Longwalk.
  • Days 4 and 5 About half and half.
  • Day 6 Mostly Longwalk.
  • Day 7 All Longwalk.

The one thing to know

If you do not know what they were fed before, ask the breeder or the rescue for a few days of it. It is worth the phone call.

How big is your dog?

You know your dog. You should not have to know how many kilos it eats in a month. Every bag is four weeks of food.

Three bags, each one four weeks of food.

  • Small dog, 3 kg bag £26
  • Medium dog, 6 kg bag £42
  • Large dog, 10 kg bag £62

Trays of baked dog biscuits cooling on a rack in a small bakery kitchen

One kitchen in Bristol. One oven. One recipe.

We would rather make one food well than twelve foods badly.

  • Baked, in small batches. Slowly, in an oven, the way you would bake a biscuit.
  • A short list. Chicken, oats, sweet potato and peas. You can read the whole label in one breath.
  • Four weeks to a bag. Sized to your dog, so you are never guessing when it runs out.

What happens after you order

Five emails in the first four weeks. None of them is a discount, and only the last one asks you for anything.

  1. Order day

    We check your two answers

Size and current food, sent straight back to you, so a wrong one is fixed before the bag ships.

  2. Day 1

The bag and the plan arrive

Your switch plan lands in your inbox that morning, and there is a printed copy in the bag.

  3. Day 8

    One question

The switch is done. We ask how the bowl is going down, and a person reads what you say.

  4. Day 26

    Five days of food left

We tell you before the bag runs out, with the same bag ready to send again.

Fair questions

What if my dog will not eat it?

Go back a step in the plan and stay there for two more days. If the bowl is still being left by the end of the week, tell us and we refund the bag. You do not need to send it back.

I picked the wrong answer. Can I change it?

Yes. The first email repeats both answers back to you, with a button to change either one before the bag ships.

Is this a subscription?

Not unless you ask for one. You buy one bag. When it is nearly finished we offer to send the same bag every four weeks, and you can say no.

My dog is between two sizes. Which bag?

Take the smaller one. The first bag lasts a few days longer anyway, because for a week it shares the bowl with the old food.

You do the long walks. We will sort the bowl.
